I liked all three recipes, but Drummond’s was the crowd-pleaser. Ree Drummond's recipe was everyone's favorite. It was everyone's favorite recipe, and the 16-minute prep time didn't hurt. Brown's sauce was my favorite of the group — even if it was my first time cooking with anchovies — and the texture of the breaded chicken was exactly what I was looking for. De Laurentiis' chicken Parmesan was my least favorite of the three, only because it didn't come with that heart-warming crunch that I've come to love from this meal.

I've been following the Mediterranean diet for years, and I've learned a lot of simple recipes. I take a minimalist approach to my diet and often only use a few ingredients in my meals. I've discovered a love for orange, avocado, and shrimp saladI wasn't initially convinced that orange, mustard, and shrimp went together. I've concocted a Mediterranean version of a make-your-own pizzaIf you have an at-home dinner date coming up, make some puff-pastry pizza together. I've only recently discovered tofu, and I've been enjoying adding it to salads and grain bowls for a protein boost.

Chicken wings are on Popeyes menu for good

Back in 2019, Popeyes’ chicken sandwich created a frenzy in the fast food industry, prompting a wave of copycats and became a barometer for success. Wings are here to stayOver the past few years, Popeyes has brought wings to the menu on a limited-time basis. Popeyes' line of chicken wings Courtesy PopeyesWith wings, Siddiqui said, Popeyes once again saw long lines and a sales lift. Popeyes is expanding its menu beyond chicken sandwiches — and it's a permanent change this time. The fast-food chain announced Wednesday it's adding five chicken wing flavors to its menu nationwide, with three debuting at Popeyes for the first time, beginning Wednesday. The flavors include Honey BBQ, Roasted Garlic Parmesan, Signature Hot, Ghost Pepper and Sweet 'N Spicy. "We know our guests want even more bold Louisiana-inspired wing flavors to choose from and are excited to see our new wings line-up take flight." Siddiqui added that the Ghost Pepper wings were an "overnight success" when tested at locations earlier this year, and the Sweet 'N Spicy wings have been the chain's best-performing product since its chicken sandwich.

I’ll use polenta to illustrate this point because, let’s face it, the bar is pretty low when it comes to its initial flavor. I have spent precious time over the years trying to convince reluctant partakers that polenta is actually worth the sweat. Instead, the polenta is left as a blank canvas, splashed with roasted-until-golden mushrooms and charred tomatoes. These do what the cheese usually does: load the polenta with the umami richness it needs to get going. But it is the finishing oil, spiked with spices and aromatics, that pulls everything together and brightens the polenta in the same way that Parmesan does.

Hate to break it to you, but your truffle oil wasn't made from truffles. Well, that's probably just a lab-made derivative of crude oil. However, there's a whole other level of trickery that's completely illegal: food fraud. That's when criminals bottle up corn syrup and call it 100% honey, or when they pass off cheap mozzarella as pure Parmigiano-Reggiano. We head around the world to uncover how producers get away with food deception and how we can spot the real stuff.

We visited four Subway in Southern California to figure out how Roark can fix the brand. So I visited four Subway stores near my Southern California home. It is one of hundreds of Subway stores that have been remodeled over the years. In 2021, The New York Times conducted its lab test and published a report stating that it found no tuna DNA in Subway tuna sandwiches. I ordered the tuna sandwich at a Subway in Santa Ana, California, an aging stand-alone store in a former adobe-style Taco Bell building.

Makers of Parmigiano-Reggiano in Italy are adding microchips to their cheese wheels. That's because makers of Parmigiano-Reggiano are implanting microchips into the casings of their 90-pound cheese wheels as the latest move to ward off counterfeiters, The Wall Street Journal reported. That's because it's the original parmesan cheese officially protected by the European Union, meaning the name can only be used for the authentic product. They are being placed on the casein label, a food-safe label commonly used in cheese production, which is placed on the cheese wheel. Other industries are also considering or planning to use the chips, including makers of drugs and car parts.

Here’s what Bobby Flay could cook for you

If you’re celebrity chef Bobby Flay, there’s no need to panic or turn to take-out menus. Bobby Flay came by CNN's Hudson Yards office in Manhattan to give CNN's Wellness team some food tips. Bobby Flay: I’m always ready. You take some onions and garlic, you sweat it (cook them in a little oil or butter to soften them, without taking on any color). Definitely have a bunch of different vinegars — red wine vinegar, white wine vinegar, balsamic vinegar, sherry vinegar.

“This is a room full of people who truly believe in the ability to go up against Adams and win,” said Cristina González, one of the hosts, on Thursday, after word of the meeting leaked. Mr. Adams will likely be a heavy favorite to capture a second term. He remains broadly popular with the coalition of Black and Latino voters outside of Manhattan who sent him to Gracie Mansion. Evan Thies, a spokesman for the Adams campaign, said in a statement that the mayor had lowered crime and “invested billions of dollars in working people” and that polls showed he had strong support from New Yorkers. “The fact that these folks would rather play politics in some back room two years before the election, instead of help the mayor help working people, tells you all you need to know about what they really care about: their own power,” he said.

Summer Pastas for Summer Zodiac Signs
  + stars: | 2023-07-20 | by ( Tanya Sichynsky | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +1 min
As Cancer season comes to a close (and a milestone birthday of my own approaches), I dedicate this week’s newsletter to the Cancers, Leos and Virgos who may have complicated feelings about their birthdays. Below are the summer zodiac signs as summery pastas — practical, comforting, a little extravagant and, just like you, worth celebrating. Cancers who crave the familiar may be especially drawn to the way this weeknight-friendly spin on eggplant Parmigiana evokes the traditional version. Much like the sun-ruled fire sign, this pasta from Ali Slagle strikes a balance between showy opulence and confident boldness. The recipe calls for canned crushed or whole tomatoes, but use peeled fresh summer tomatoes if you’re feeling fancy.

If you have a bit more time, there’s also her salt and vinegar kale chips with fried chickpeas and avocado and crispy potato tacos filled with cheese and potato skins for texture. Also on your table in 20 minutes and vegetable-based (though not vegetarian) is my recipe for a cherry tomato Caesar salad. Juicier and sweeter than the usual lettuce-only version, it’s got curls of Parmesan cheese and bits of anchovy providing a savory contrast. For dessert, how about a pale green basil Key lime pie? This one is more complex than the usual Key lime confection, with its especially fruity topping of macerated fresh strawberries.

Live to 100 by adding beans to your diet

The recipe is in his book “ The Blue Zones American Kitchen: 100 Recipes to Live to 100 ." “If you want to avoid gas, the way to start with beans is with a couple tablespoons a day,” Buettner said. For quicker soup, Buettner suggests using a pressure cooker for 25 minutes — except for lentils, which only take about 5 minutes. “If you want to store it more than 2 days, it’s better to freeze it.”This recipe is adapted from “The Blue Zones American Kitchen: 100 Recipes to Live to 100” by Dan Buettner.

You Don’t Have to Wait for Peak Tomato

While it has been summer for me mentally since the first warm weekend of May, the season officially kicked off yesterday with the summer solstice, the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. I’ve anticipated this time of year with equal parts enthusiasm and dread. (Being a summer baby who can’t stand the heat leads to some complicated feelings.) Then there are the meals that punctuate these summer pursuits: tomato sandwiches in the sand, chilled tomato salads in the grass, icy pitchers of gazpacho passed around a rickety wrought-iron table. In a few weeks, when tomatoes are at their most delicious, I’ll adorn them with olive oil, red wine vinegar and a Parmesan and olive bread-crumb mixture flecked with fennel seeds, a recipe courtesy of Christian Reynoso.
